It was another former graduate of the University of Munich and former Porsche manager – Andreas Seidl. But Jost Capito doesn’t mind. Rather, he thinks it would have been uncomfortable to return to McLaren in 2016 after the fall of Ron Dennis, who supported him. Not to forget the enormous work that Seidl has already done to turn the Woking outfit on.
“You know, I was gone by then. So it would have been uncomfortable for me to do that back, that would have been totally uncomfortable. And I wouldn’t have done it because it wouldn’t have been good for the team, ”said Capito on the“ Beyond the Grid ”podcast.
“I know exactly where he’s from, what his intuition is. So we’re pretty close. You made a good choice when you led Andreas as team leader. I think this was a fantastic choice and you can see the results. “
Capito believes he would have been successful at McLaren if Ron Dennis had stayed
After his heroics in the rally and sports car championships, Ron Dennis appointed him to restore McLaren to its former glory in 2016. However, when Ron left, Capito’s ideologies were inconsistent with the new management. So I went to the door.
But he believes things could have been different for him at McLaren if Ron Dennis had stayed.

Let’s hope his second foray into F1 is a lot sweeter. He now has the confidence to lead Williams out of the drought in F1. He has enough tools in his kitten to thrive in this new venture.
