As the 21-year-old raced through Spa trying to set the fastest lap for Sunday’s race, he lost control of his McLaren when he drove towards Eau Rouge. The car hit the barrier, which completely destroyed the backend.
Norris was rushed to the medical center on the side of the track after the accident and was later taken to the hospital for a preventative x-ray of his elbow. Seidl is therefore waiting for an update as to whether his driver can take part in the race.
An update from McLaren to Norris:
“After his accident while qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix, Lando was examined at the track’s medical center and then taken to a local hospital for a preventive x-ray of his elbow. Another update will be released in due course.”

It should be noted, however, that Lando’s McLaren was badly damaged and major repairs could be made to it. If so, Norris would most likely lose his tenth place on the grid and could see the lights from the pit lane.
