McLaren driver Lando Norris was recently spotted rubbing shoulders with star golfers Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa at Yas Links, Abu Dhabi. In an Instagram Story shared by the young Brit, he was seen recording some high-profile punches from Morikawa and McIlroy. They arrived in Abu Dhabi earlier this week for the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship of the DP World Tour.

The Brit’s love of golf is not hidden from anyone. Fans can often see him on the golf course in his free time between race weekends. Norris posted an Instagram story a few days ago walking side-by-side with Indian cricket legend Yuvraj Singh and claiming the duo formed “Team of the Year”. This time he took things to another level and participated in an event with professional golfers.
Norris will soon be back at the wheel of his 2022 McLaren car. However, he has concerns this season.

A scenario of a possible race suspension awaits him.
McLaren unhappy with Lando Norris penalty points
After an exciting first half of the season, Norris had all but one positive to take into his summer break. The FIA imposed a 2-point penalty for an incident involving Red Bull driver Sergio Perez. Norris has 5 penalty points to his name which will be overturned at the end of the Azerbaijan GP in June.
In accordance with FIA regulation, 12 penalty points accumulated by a driver on his FIA Super License over a 12 month period will result in a 1 race ban. Although Norris is not at the limit, team CEO Zak Brown is unhappy with the penalty points given to Norris. In an interview with Motorsport-Total, Brown commented on this topic.
“I can’t remember any incident where Lando drove dangerously,” Brown said, according to Motorsport-total.com.
“With seven races to go we wrote to the FIA and Formula 1 saying Lando forcing Perez off the track without touching him is one race away from losing his licence. I think it should be about dangerous driving, not race incidents.”

“That’s why I’m more interested in resolving things like that because we were worried about Lando,” he added while discussing the undeserved penalty.

If Norris earns 7 more points ahead of the Azerbaijan GP in Baku, he could face a one-race ban. The team definitely wants to avoid this scenario. With exactly one month until the winter test, the anticipation for the next season is growing.
