Aston Martin F1 is recruiting new technical director

Aston Martin F1 is recruiting new technical director

Aston Martin will have a new technical director as part of its reorganization, including Andrew Green as chief technical officer.

Green’s promotion was confirmed a week ago when Aston Martin also announced the arrival of Luca Furbatto as engineering director, and the team has now revealed more of its new structure. There will be three senior positions below Green, one of which is the role of Engineering Director, alongside a Performance Director and a Technical Director.

Tom McCullough will be the Performance Director who was previously the Performance Engineering Director, but now sees that his responsibility extends to “all areas of performance within the factory”. The new technical director has yet to be announced, but team boss Otmar Szafnauer says the structure is similar to that of other teams.

“As Andrew Green takes on this important strategic technical role, I am excited to outline our new structure that will add real strength to our technical operations,” said Szafnauer.

“In Tom we have an experienced and talented engineer who will continue to be responsible for track performance as well as the many factory performance functions. He is a strong leader who has contributed a lot to the team’s success over the past eight years.

“With Luca Furbatto, we have gained another excellent people manager with great expertise in his areas of responsibility, Luca Furbatto, who will expand the factory operations with a focus on the areas of technical support. Both men will report to Andrew Green, as will the new technical director.

“Everyone on the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula 1 team strives to win Grand Prix and World Championships, and this new and improved structure we have created reflects that of the most successful teams in Formula 1 today.”
