Max Verstappen ushered in the Christmas season as the first Dutch world champion in the history of F1. The 24-year-old wasn’t the only one who shared his Red Bull skirmishes during this time.
Social media posts have surfaced in which the Dutchman presents his girlfriend Kelly Piquet’s brother with a scale model of his title-winning Honda RB26 for Christmas.
Brazilian kart driver Rodrigo shared photos and videos of him receiving the special gift in front of the young Dutchman’s friends and family.
Rodrigo is also the brother of former F1 and current stock car driver Nelson Piquet Jr. He is the son of three-time F1 world champion Nelson Piquet.
Verstappen won 10 races and took 10 pole positions with the real Honda RB26 Red Bull put together for the 2021 season.
He also got 18 of 22 possible podium places. The Dutchman set a new season record. He overshadowed Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher, all of whom came on Nov.
Max Verstappen is happy to have won “at least one” world championship in his career
The 24-year-old said he felt no pressure to chase Lewis Hamilton or Michael Schumacher’s overall world title.
In an interview with Sky F1 at the Red Bull factory during his championship celebration, Max Verstappen was asked about his goal of adding to his first world championship. The Dutchman said:
“Well, you need a bit of luck here too. To be able to fight for such titles, you need the right team for this period. So for me I never really think about it that much. I just always try to do my best and I’m very happy that I won at least one. ”
Both Schumacher and Hamilton won most of their titles during their respective dominance periods in F1. Schumacher won two with Bennetton before winning five in a row with Ferrari. Hamilton earned his first with McLaren and the next six with Mercedes.
