Max Verstappen may be the reigning Formula 1 world champion of drivers, but it is the seven-time world champion and runner-up world champion of 2021, Lewis Hamilton, who prefers to take the drivers’ title in 2022. Favorite to win the F1 drivers’ championship in 2022
Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes and defending champion Max Verstappen from Red Bull took part in an all-time title fight in 2021. With all the controversy surrounding the way it was decided, there’s just no denying that the two delivered incredible drama and both would have been deserved champions on points after moving into the final race of the season.
With Hamilton and Verstappen defining final season, it’s only right that they head into 2022 – a new era for the sport – as favorites.
Lewis Hamilton (+100)
With the illustrious career, almost all records and probably the superior car, Hamilton is at the top of the quota table. While the British driver has not yet confirmed that he will return in 2022, talks of a year of absence or retirement after a busy 2021 season remain largely rumors at the moment.
Should Hamilton actually return and chase a record-breaking eighth title, he’ll no doubt hold favorite status until pre-season testing, when we start to get a feel for each team’s cars as new rules are introduced into the sport.
Max Verstappen (+225)
Much has been said about the end of the 2021 season and the course of the title-deciding race, but not about Verstappen himself as champion. The young Dutchman was downright dominant in 2021 and his first drivers’ championship reflects a season worthy of the title.
With Red Bull investing everything in 2021 and engine supplier Honda leaving the sport, Verstappen’s team will face more uncertainty than Mercedes and Hamilton before 2022. However, as 2021 has proven, as long as Red Bull can give Verstappen a car that can compete with Mercedes, Red Bull will be pushing one of the GOATs at every turn.
George Russell (+500)
Another sign of the expectations around Mercedes compared to Red Bull before 2022 is Russell’s place on the odds table (third with +500) compared to Verstappen’s team-mate Sergio Perez (sixth with +3,300). Russell takes second Mercedes place with a lot of hype, and rightly so, after a flawless junior career and two seasons at Williams in which he consistently exceeded expectations. However, unless Russell proves to be faster than Hamilton in the first race, Team Hamilton will once again give priority and focus on his title boost.

Favorite to win the F1 Constructors’ Championship in 2022
Although Red Bull’s Verstappen won the drivers ‘championship in 2021, Mercedes crowned the constructors’ champion again as they took Red Bull 28 points ahead.
It is worth noting that the battle for the Constructors’ Championship in 2022 could offer many surprises. The coming season will bring brand new regulations to the sport, with both cars and racing changing drastically. Over the past few seasons, teams have regressed (Haas) and saved resources (McLaren) while others (Red Bull) went all-in before the change. Don’t be stunned when an expected backmarker team impresses, one of the leaders falls behind or even a title challenge for the two dominant midfield teams McLaren and Ferrari.
Mercedes (-225)
With eight titles in a row and a possibly much, much better second driver in 2022, Mercedes is already a strong favorite for the constructors’ championship. Aside from a staggering resignation from Hamilton, he will be partnered with Russell in 2022, giving Mercedes a second world-class driver after replacing Valtteri Bottas. The German team, both as a resource team and as a works team, is better suited to adapt to the new regulations in 2022.
Red Bull (+250)
As already mentioned, Red Bull has put everything into 2021, recognized an opportunity and rewarded it for it. You might be forced to pay the price in 2022, however, as their engine supplier Honda has (if not entirely) left the sport. With the reigning Driver Champion at the helm, they’re unlikely to fall too far behind in the battle for the Constructors’ Championship, but right now it’s hard to assume they’ll keep up.
Ferrari (+700)
The 16-time champion finished 2021 with flying colors and came third. The general consensus seems to be that Ferrari was able to look to the new regulations while improving its 2021 car. Hence, it should be expected that the Italian team will build on a successful season. One potential challenge in the Constructors’ Championship is their driver pairing Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr., who are possibly the best on the grid.
Former F1 world champions
Hamilton’s dominance in Formula 1 is simply astonishing: in the last eight years he has not only won six, but in the two years in which he did not win the drivers’ championship, with five or up to the last lap of the last race.

How to bet on F1 futures odds
The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 futures is to simply pick the winner of the F1 drivers’ championship. The champion is crowned via a points system based on the final race results of each trip. While the winner only officially receives the title at the last race of the season, he can secure the championship with the remaining races on schedule.
Another F1 futures bet is the World Constructors Championship, which is awarded to the Constructor (the team that builds the car’s components) who scores the most points at the end of the season. In 63 seasons, the victorious designer was not on the same team as the winner of the drivers’ world championship only 11 times.
The F1 futures odds usually look like this:
This means that if Norris wins the Drivers Championship, if Norris wins $ 100, you will win $ 1,200. When the season is nearing the end or a driver is just so dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) in front of their odds.
This means you have to wager $ 175 to win $ 100 if Hamilton wins the drivers’ championship.
