F1 News: “Last year was boring”

F1 Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia - Previews

Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen is currently leading the Drivers’ World Championship (WDC) with 8 points, closely followed by seven-time WDC winner Lewis Hamilton from Mercedes.

Hamilton was really challenged to add another record-breaking title to his already formidable streak after a long time. The last time was in 2016, when his then Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg won the championship by just five points. It took until the very last race to determine the winner of that year.

The 2021 season was no less intense. The competition has reached a point where the league leaders have changed hands several times over the course of the season. With this in mind, Max Verstappen revels in battle and poses a real threat to his main rival.

This is what Verstappen says about the comparison of the seasons 2020 and 2021 so far:

“It was of course just a great year for us, we had a lot of wonderful moments. And it’s just more fun, you know, last year was pretty boring for me. ”YES BOYS. P

In the 2020 season, the Dutchman was third in the drivers’ standings, nine points behind the other Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas and a whopping 133 points behind Hamilton. Until last year, Mercedes was undoubtedly the dominant constructor. With Red Bull scratching the British team’s dominance this year, it has been quite a battle for the title this season.

“We are very motivated” – Max Verstappen

Two races before the end of this season, Max Verstappen gave his team a remarkable chance to get back to the top.

Red Bull hopes to return to winning ways for the first time since the victory under Sebastian Vettel’s reign from 2010 to 2013. The team will give everything at the first Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia.

This is what the 24-year-old driver says about the team’s approach to the premiere race in Jeddah:

“We are very motivated. You know that a track like this offers different and new opportunities for everyone, not just for us. Hopefully it will be an exciting weekend.”

Red Bull want to be competitive enough this weekend to fend off their British rivals and emerge victorious. It seems too early to see this season’s result as Max Verstappen is determined to fight back.
