Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time F1 Drivers’ Championship (WDC) winner, led both practice sessions at the first Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Friday and showed phenomenal pace throughout.
After the second practice session (FP2), Hamilton shared his thoughts on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit:
“Fast, incredibly fast. It’s really incredibly fast and also has a lot of grip. But it’s really nice … if you get the rhythm, it’s nice to drive.”
The circuit on which the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix is held is often referred to as “the F1’s fastest street circuit”. Combine that with the high-speed turns and the drivers have little to no margin for error. With the sessions on Friday delivering exciting drives, fans can expect an even more exciting qualifying and race.

With lap times of 1: 29.786 in first practice (FP1) and 1: 29.018 in FP2, Lewis Hamilton seemed to be thoroughly enjoying his first drive on the Jeddah circuit and was faster than his Dutch rival and title contender Max Verstappen all Friday.
Lewis Hamilton’s chance for the eighth championship title
Lewis Hamilton is on the verge of rewriting the history books with Mercedes as he envisages his eighth World Drivers Championship (WDC). With the title win, Hamilton will break the enviable record of the German Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher and at the same time surpass his own record.
The road to winning the title will not be easy for Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen kept the reigning champion busy all season. Before the penultimate race on the calendar, the 24-year-old Red Bull Racing driver is eight points ahead of the British.
Friday in Jeddah does not seem to have gone on Verstappen’s path. On Sunday, however, the blind vertices and strange track development promise an eventful battle with some unpredictable results.
