Lando Norris made possibly the biggest mistake of his career at the 2021 Russian Grand Prix when, according to his instincts, he lost the team’s terrible failures when he lost an incredible opportunity to secure his first Formula 1 race win.

A decision, barely a few laps before the checkered flag, cost him the lead and 5 other positions, as he finished on P7 in the end. What a heartbreaking moment that was!
Well, it looks like the Briton has learned his lesson. During a live stream, Norris taught his anonymous gaming colleague to always pit when it starts raining.

What did Lando Norris say?
Norris and his “friend” were busy competing against each other at the Red Bull Ring in the latest edition of the F1 video game, F1 2021.
And when Norris realized it was going to rain during the race, he ordered his friend to box instead of walking on the slicks. He also pointed out that his real-world experience on the track led him to push for such a decision.
“It’s going to rain, let’s not box. Actually boxing. My last experience didn’t go well in the rain. It’s going to rain and you’re on the slicks, you should always box, ”he said.

The final laps of the Russian GP were indeed painful to watch, especially for Norris fans. Norris defended himself like a champion against the British world champion Lewis Hamilton. But most of all, it looked like the sky was opening. Therefore, both Mercedes and McLaren urged their drivers to pit.
Hamilton neglected once, but in the next round he trusted the reputation of his team and prevailed. Meanwhile, Norris feared he could lose his lead to Hamilton or others behind him if the rain stops after switching to intermediate tires. Reasonable concern.

And that fear kept him on the track for one more lap, which ended up being the worst decision he could have made. Rain has devastated the track and the combination of wet track and slick tires is almost like walking on ice in barefoot shoes.

It took Norris over 3 minutes to complete his lap on the slicks and pit. And when he got back on track, he was P7.
All in all, it was an absolutely spectacular end to the weekend in Sochi, regardless of who won the race in the end, a track that was often criticized for lacking action. Only this time the rain came to the rescue and did its job in the most dramatic way.
