Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve believes the Silver Arrows should go for Lance Stroll, which would move Bottas to Aston Martin in 2022.

Russell has had strong ties with Mercedes since his one-off appearance at the Sakhir GP where he stood in for Hamilton. The Briton, who is also in his final year of contract with Williams, will switch to the Silver Arrows for the next season.
However, the 97′-world champion does not believe that he would fit in and suggests team boss Wolff to consider Stroll as an option.

Villeneuve said: “For me he is [Bottas] could switch to Aston Martin instead of Lance Stroll, who would switch to Mercedes. Stroll senior’s dream, very close to Toto Wolff, is to see his son win championship titles. And Toto needs a place for Valtteri. “
“Of course, Hamilton doesn’t like Russell as a teammate. Better someone like Bottas who doesn’t bother him, ”he concluded.

Where can Bottas secure his future?
The Finn has been part of the team since 2017. With the help of his team-mate Hamilton, Bottas helped the Brackley team to get four constructors’ champions. However, their partnership seems to be coming to an end, as Bottas is in his last year of contract with the Silver Arrows.
The 31-year-old is to be replaced by Williams’ Russell. However, nothing has been set in stone yet, but Bottas has not been offered an extension either. Therefore, Finn could look elsewhere on the grid for a team that can secure him a seat for the 2022 season.
