Mick Schumacher has admitted to having private talks with Lewis Hamilton after getting one step closer to his dream of driving for Ferrari. Schumacher, the son of legendary seven-time world champion Michael, made his debut in F1 with Haas in the 2021 season, although it proved to be a difficult season with neither he nor teammate Nikita Mazepin scoring points.
Schumacher, who raced in both Formula 3 and Formula 2 before joining Haas, was also asked what it would mean to drive for Ferrari, which finished third in the constructors’ championship last season.
“I think in general it’s a dream for everyone to drive for Ferrari. I think everyone would love to race there,” he replied.
“But obviously my mind is very much in the here and now trying to do my best in the position I’m in with Haas. Hopefully we can get the maximum out of it with a better car.”
The current driving spots at the Scuderia are occupied by Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc, but Schumacher is likely to get his chance on red now if either is forced to miss a race this season.
