The Dutchman suffered a 51-gram impact in a first lap accident at Silverstone while battling Lewis Hamilton for the lead.

Max Verstappen, who won the sprint qualifying on Saturday this weekend, was furious at the celebrations that followed after Hamilton’s victory in the main race in the Mercedes garage.
The Red Bull Racing driver has faced Hamilton more than once during the season, but his 180 mph accident at Silverstone was one of the standout moments in the rivalry between the two.
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner discussed Max Verstappen’s late blowout in Azerbaijan and the double header in Austria and France before he said:
“There were some big moments … It was important to come back strong and Max (Verstappen) did that and then Silverstone was a key moment and again how he came back from it.”
When asked Max Verstappen to share his views, the Dutchman said:
“Just like Christian (Horner). Headbutting against the tire wall at Silverstone wasn’t that great.”
Max Verstappen had three DNFs (not finished) in 2021 – two of them as a result of battling Lewis Hamilton at Silverstone and Monza. Still, at 18, he set a new record for most podiums in a season.
