Giovinazzi has now revealed that he has received a barrage of support from his fellow driver drivers, including the two currently pushing for the title, since the news was announced.
“Both Hamilton and Verstappen wrote me nice messages and these are things that you appreciate because they follow you,” Giovinazzi told Italian radio station Rai 2.
“I drove with Max in Formula 3 in 2015 and therefore knew him very well, and these gestures are therefore very much appreciated.
“But not just from them, Gasly, Ocon and Perez too.”
The 27-year-old’s immediate future lies in Formula E, as he will be competing for the Penske Racing team from next year.
