“I just enjoy fighting with them”

F1 Grand Prix of Qatar - Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris

Carlos Sainz had a phenomenal first year at Ferrari in the 2021 F1 season, particularly enjoying racing team-mate Charles Leclerc and former McLaren team-mate Lando Norris in the battle for third place in the constructors’ championship.

Impressed with the clean and fair fights that have been held, the Spaniard hopes these young drivers will ride the track with the same respect as they battle for race wins in the years to come.

In a recent interview, Sainz Motorsport said:

“I just enjoy fighting guys like Charles, Lando and George when he gets the Mercedes next year. It’s a generation of drivers who, even if I’m not exactly the age, just enjoy fighting with them. They are at a very good level but in some ways they also manage to keep the track clean and put together good fights. “

“When we all fight for higher stakes” – Carlos Sainz looks to the 2022 season

The battle for 3rd place this year was associated with intense battles in midfield. As described by Sainz, the wheel-to-wheel action was always clean. The Spaniard hopes that will continue into the 2022 season, when he expects teams like Ferrari and McLaren to have a good fight with Red Bull and Mercedes.

Sainz stated:

“If you look at the midfield this year and the way we managed to behave and race, it was really positive. Let’s see if we will all fight for higher stakes next year, if we can that way, because I personally have a lot of fun. ”

While the first half of the 2021 season followed the path of McLaren, which also secured the 1: 2 in Monza, Ferrari was able to catch up immensely in the second half and confidently recaptured third place in the constructors’ championship. With players like Norris, Leclerc, and Russell expected to battle for the title next season, these battles will get even more interesting.
