George Russell believes that Williams will fight for victories again in the next few years despite the recent lack of form in the championship as Formula 1 is subject to major regulatory changes next season.
Founded in 1977 by Sir Frank Williams and Sir Patrick Head, Williams won nine constructors ‘titles and seven drivers’ titles, most recently in 1997 from the Canadian Jacques Villeneuve.
In recent years, however, the family-based team has been relegated to the back of the grid and is also struggling financially.
They were eventually taken over by US investment firm Dorilton Capital, with the Williams family effectively stepping aside after 43 years.
Russell, who started his Formula 1 career at Williams in 2019, expects the team to be back on the road to success soon.
“I really think Williams will make up positions. They don’t tinker around, they do it right, invest where they have to, ”he explained to Auto Motor und Sport.
