Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto predicts who will be F1 world champion in 2021. He supported the title fight between Mercedes-Lewis Hamilton and Red-Bull-Max Verstappen.

Ferrari is currently third in the constructors ‘championship, while their drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc are fifth and sixth in the drivers’ championship.

Binotto suggested to Hamilton and Mercedes to have the advantage, but would not be against a new face becoming master of the sport.

He told La Gazzetta dello Sport: “It’s an interesting challenge between two great drivers and I hope they will fight to the end.

He said: “If I had to bet I would bet on Lewis because I think Mercedes will win in the end. But I also applaud Max. It would be good for the sport if the status quo is broken. “

Ferrari, which last won the race in 2008, has a very talented driver line-up that Binotto believes is destined to succeed.

He enthused: “’I am convinced that in Leclerc and Sainz we have the best driver duo in Formula 1. You are talented, fast, young and a guarantee for the future.

“We know Karl. He grew up with us and without the incident in Monte Carlo and the bad luck at the start in Hungary would have had a win and a podium behind his name. ”

Binotto has high hopes for Sainz and gives the Spaniard a tip to win a race in the near future.

“He (Sainz) is self-confident, scores points for the team and is very good at communicating with his engineers. He is integrated into the team and understands his car better and better, ”he continued.

DO NOT MISS

I expect him to have a perfect weekend in the second half of the season, with no mistakes in qualifying or at the start of the race. ”

The drivers are recharging their batteries while enjoying the F1 summer break.

Before the holiday, the on-track rivalry intensified when Hamilton won the British Grand Prix in which the Briton and Verstappen collided, causing the Red Bull driver to drift off the track at high speed.

Things got worse for the British team as their driver only managed to finish tenth in the Hungarian Grand Prix.
