Lewis Hamilton is knighted after F1 title fear

Lewis Hamilton’s future continues to dominate the world of Formula 1 ahead of the upcoming 2022 season.

Hamilton’s 2021 campaign ended dramatically and competitive when Max Verstappen snatched away the world championship eighth world title on the last lap of the final race in Abu Dhabi. However, a cryptic tweet from Mercedes at the weekend with a picture of Hamilton next to the message “Resistance causes some things to break; others to break records, ”implied he would come back for more.

The new season starts on March 20th at the Bahrain Grand Prix. This time, Hamilton is supported by a new team-mate. Valtteri Bottas moves to Alfa Romeo and the young talent George Russell takes his empty Mercedes seat. Red Bull’s line-up with Verstappen and Sergio Perez will remain the same, while Ferrari and McLaren will stay with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz respectively.

Michael Masi said the Abu Dhabi decisions “completely ignore any level of common sense”

Former Formula 1 driver Stefan Johansson told Michael Masi that his decisions at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix lacked “common sense”.

“I think it’s positive for Formula 1 that everyone is getting involved, that there’s so much passion for both sides, Lewis and Max,” Johansson told F1i.com. “Intentional or not, the entertainment value of this controversy has gone through the roof.

Lando Norris supports Ferrari for podiums and victories in 2022

Lando Norris expects Ferrari to rise in 2022, with more podiums and even some wins.

Norris believes the engine will help Scuderia after a year battling McLaren for third place.

The Brit ended up between the Ferrari drivers in front of Charles Leclerc on P6 and behind Carlos Sainz on P5.

“The progress they made in the latter part of the season had nothing to do with the car,” said Norris, as quoted by Marca.

“They just improved their aggregates. I don’t think they ever had a terrible car.

“Even in the last few years, I don’t think they had a terrible car. They were just missing on the engine side. “

“It’s just crazy until the last lap. This last lap [of 2021] actually sums up the entire season well.

“Everyone is talking about Formula 1. Friends of mine weren’t really interested and are now fully involved. It is great.”

Aston Martin announces the departure of team boss Szafnauer

Aston Martin has announced the shocking departure of team boss Otmar Szafnauer.

In a statement, Aston Martin said: “Otmar Szafnauer has left the company and his role at Aston Martin will remain within the executive team until a successor is appointed.

“We would like to thank him for the work he has done for the team over the past 12 years and wish him all the best for the future, as he will undoubtedly face new challenges.

“Fortunately, we are led and directed by a strong group of individuals and we like to take some time to explore options before announcing a new team structure.

“The team is currently focusing on preparing a car that is as competitive as possible for the start of the 2022 season.”

While Szafnauer has not announced his next move, he denied reports from last season that linked him to Alpine.

Carlos Sainz has the tip to become a “top tier driver

Ex-F1 racing driver Jolyon Palmer has highlighted Carlos Sainz as a potential star moving forward.

Sainz finished 6th in his two seasons with McLaren in the 2019 and 2020 drivers’ championship before teaming up with Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc.

After four podiums helped him finish fifth overall, Sainz has moved from being runner-up to being on par with Leclerc and now has the potential to go beyond that.

“A tough call for most improvements as Sainz was in the top six overall for the past three years,” Palmer told the F1 website. “At first glance, the fact that Sainz and Norris would both emerge as improved drivers this year shows that at least I, as McLaren team-mates, have probably underestimated them.

“But I think Sainz has developed wonderfully at Ferrari. The highlight was his podium in Abu Dhabi to lead him to the ‘best of the others’ in the overall standings and to be the first driver to surpass Charles Leclerc as a team-mate in every auto racing series.

“Like many drivers who have changed teams, it started slowly, but ended quickly and improved well in 2021 as well. When Ferrari signed him in early 2020, he seemed like a great second fiddle for Leclerc, but maybe they’re just reconsidering that assessment now. I think this year he showed the potential to become an absolute top driver. “
