"Easy for them to point the finger" - criticism of McLaren's treatment of Honda in Formula 1

Honda supplied engines to the Woking-based company back in the 1990s and was successful. But when they worked together again from 2015 to 2017, they weren’t as victorious as they’d hoped.

When asked about this, Button said, as reported by Motorsport.com, “I was with Honda when they got into Formula 1 with the Hybrid V6 project and it wasn’t easy for them. In the hybrid era, they suffered in the beginning and were a few years behind the others and they paid for a lot of reliability issues.

“I think it’s a shame that McLaren has not continued the relationship with Honda. It was easy for them to point a finger at the least reliable component when they weren’t competitive. Now, thanks to the experience gained and the collaboration with a team like Red Bull, it seems that they have found a solid partnership, ”concluded Button. (Translated from Italian via Google)
