Despite turning 34 today, Vettel still has a leap in his crotch since joining Aston Martin this year. In eight races so far, the German has collected 30 points, including a podium in Baku and an impressive P5 in Monaco.
The German is two years younger than Hamilton, but both drivers are in the twilight of their careers. However, Hamilton’s contract extension is evidence of the Silver Arrows’ continued confidence in their star driver.
In addition, Vettel seems to be more at home with Aston Martin than last season with Ferrari. Within minutes of Mercedes’ announcement, Aston Martin stepped in with this intriguing tweet.
While the exact duration of his current contract is not clear, Vettel will definitely drive for Aston Martin until the end of next season. However, that tweet could mean the British outfit is also thinking of keeping it through 2023.

The new technical regulations from next season could bring some teams major advances in development. Aston Martin could be one such team, with the UK team hoping Vettel can lead their long-term project.
Although a title fight between them might excite the fans, Aston Martin seems to be far behind Mercedes at the moment. While 2020 is one of their most successful seasons, the Silverstone team needs to make significant improvements to compete for world championships in the future.
