Vesti joined ART last year for his second FIA Formula 3 season, repeating fourth place he achieved in his first F3 season with Prema – albeit with two wins fewer in the French squad.
After winning the feature race at the Red Bull Ring last year, Vesti had hoped to challenge for the F3 title but was outclassed by eventual winner Dennis Hauger and Trident pair Jack Doohan and Clement Novalak.
Vesti connected with ART at the post-season F2 test in Abu Dhabi and managed a high watermark with ninth place in the afternoon session of day one.
“Signing my FIA Formula 2 contract with ART Grand Prix is a big deal for me,” said Vesti. “We worked incredibly hard in Formula 3 last season and continuing the climb up to Formula 2 together is important for my next step.
“Now it is crucial to understand all the small details of Formula 2 in order to get the maximum out of 2022.
“The tests in Abu Dhabi went really well and I learned a lot of new things. I can’t wait to be in the car for the first test in Bahrain!
“I want to thank ART Grand Prix for this great opportunity and for believing in me.”

Before entering the FIA F3 field, Vesti shot to the 2019 Formula Regional European Championship title, winning 13 races with Prema to earn a call-up to his F3 team.
Vesti had previously driven for Van Amersfoort Racing in ADAC Formula 4 and dovetailed this with a part Danish F4 season in which he finished second overall.
ART is the eighth F2 team to complete its 2022 lineup, with only Charouz, Trident and Campos yet to confirm their vacancies.
Newcomers Van Amersfoort recently announced the signing of Amaury Cordeel to their F2 squad, who partners Jake Hughes in the team, while Hitech also this week announced the signing of Marcus Armstrong to partner Red Bull junior Juri Vips.
Campos is yet to sign a partner for Ralph Boschung, who remains in the squad after his best F2 campaign to date last year in 2022. Trident has only signed rookie Calan Williams for 2022 and Charouz has an undeclared seat alongside ex-Euroformula Open driver Cem Bolukbasi.
