Who is Tom Stallard – An Olympic Champion and Race Engineer Race

Thomas Stallard is a former rower. At the 2008 Summer Olympics for Great Britain, he won silver in the men’s category. He previously rowed in the Cambridge Blue Boat at the University Boat Races in 1999 and 2002. He even won in 1999 and 2001. Tom was CUBC’s leader in the 2002 season.

He no longer rows and has retired from the sport. From 2021 he will work as a race engineer for Daniel Ricciardo in the McLaren F1 Group. He has worked in Formula 1 with some big names like Jenson Button, Stoffel Vandoorne and Carlos Sainz Jr.

What does an Olympic runner-up do in Formula 1?

During an interview with Tom in 2016, he revealed that he has always loved motorsports but started rowing when he arrived in Cambridge.

“I studied engineering at Cambridge. Before I went to Cambridge I wanted to do motorsports and when I got to Cambridge I was really obsessed with rowing and then I got into engineering so I could keep rowing. “

He added, “I stopped rowing when I turned 30 and started rowing. Being 30 is not that old for a rower, but 35 is a bit and then 40 is quite old. ”

Daniel seems to be quite happy with Tom. In an interview with F1, Daniel said he received clear messages from Tom Stallard.

“It’s like being a beginner all over again and getting tuition every corner! Good job, do better, OK, improve a little here. “

“The feedback I get from the team is of course good and they are obviously trying to get me used to this car and its characteristics.”

The duo have done a good job since Daniel joined the McLaren F1 team.
