Lance Stroll, who was on the inside of Turn 1, lost control of his car, drove over the curbs and straight into Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque was just one passenger throughout the event when his Ferrari skidded into Ricciardo, who then spun and looked in the opposite direction.
Of course, the fault lies with Stroll. However, only a red Ferrari could be seen in Ricciardo’s eyes, and he consequently assumed that Leclerc was to blame. Therefore, the Australian insulted the Ferrari driver on the team radio.

“I got hit. Damn Ko * khead,” he said. His race engineer immediately interrupted him to ask if he could continue the race after taking the damage.
Ricciardo replied: “I don’t know! He hit me pretty big. I will see.”
The bad run in 2021 continues for Daniel Ricciardo
Just when it looked as if fate was turning for Ricciardo, he caught himself in the middle of an unfortunate pile-up at the start of the race on the Hungaroring.
His McLaren suffered considerable damage to the body in the collision with Leclerc and his race was endangered from then on. While the Honey Badger did his best to bring home some points for the British team, Max Verstappen took last place in the top 10 in the last part of the race and didn’t let Ricciardo fight for points.

As Lando Norris ended up in the pits after the incident on lap 1, the Hungarian GP was the first weekend without points for the McLaren F1 team. In addition, the gap between the two teams has now dropped to just three points as Ferrari took strong points from Carlos Sainz ‘P4.
So it looks like the battle for P3 in the constructors’ championship will continue until the last race of the season without giving up. So can McLaren put on a dominant show at Spa the next race weekend to catch up?
