GMA T.50
663PS (488kW)
166PS per liter
3.9 liter V12
We have finally reached the end. As spoiled above, it is the Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 with its 3.9-liter V12 with 663 hp that makes the racing-derived V8 of the 918 Spyder look like a small bumper block. It turns to 12,100 rpm and produces an incredible 166 hp per liter on the way. Independent of the Valkyrie, this motor is also a Cosworth development. The key difference? Motor size. Gordon Murray wanted it to be compact, easy to turn and weigh as little as possible. In addition, owners will control these biblical numbers with a manual transmission. Combustion? Cosworth locked it.
There are tons of legendary NA engines that we will have missed. A range of BMW M engines (including the McLaren F1), AMGs, Lamborghini V12s, the Lexus V10. If you do the calculations – trust us, we did – they just aren’t doing the business by the standard of the above cars. Praise also to the Ferrari 812 Superfast, F12 TdF and Lamborghini Huracan STO, which with around 123PS per liter are only just below the Honda S2000.
We did the research, we iterated, but we are sure we overlooked some. Let us know in the comments.
