An excellent qualifying result for McLaren driver Lando Norris made for his joy and that of his fans. In the last race of the season, Norris pushed a Mercedes and a Red Bull to P3, the result of which could be decisive for the end of the season for him and his team.

But as happy as his fans, his team or Norris himself were, there was still someone whose happiness was greater than anyone else in the world, his mother. The McLaren driver’s parents were present in the pit lane after their son surprised everyone in a really great lap for P3.
In a video posted by McLaren’s official Twitter page, his mother, wearing Norris’ hat, proudly applauds before hugging her son. Norris gets a pat on the shoulder and a hug from his father too, but it’s his mother’s lovely reaction that is sure to melt all hearts.

The Briton also posted his own joy on his Twitter account. He wrote: “THIRD! WAHOOOOOO! “
Lando Norris set himself slightly higher goals than he achieved
The McLaren driver joked David Coulthard in his post-qualifying interview that his eyes and efforts were on something other than P3. Norris said: “I decided for pole, it didn’t quite work out. It was a nice round. To be on P3 was a little surprise. “
He described how sitting right behind Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton made him a little nervous. And while he will be vigilant not to interfere or be on the wrong side of Red Bull or Mercedes in one of the biggest championship bouts in F1 history, he will take a step if he gets the chance.
“I’ll do my best and if I get the chance I’ll try.”

The McLaren driver is currently sixth in the drivers’ standings behind Charles Leclerc, just four points ahead. A start from P3 will greatly increase his chances of finishing fifth in the championship, which will be the highest finish in his three-season career.
And doing so in front of your parents will only make Sunday’s race in Abu Dhabi even more meaningful.
