A challenge from Toto Wolff was the reason why Zak Brown had himself tattooed in Austin, as the American revealed.
With Daniel Ricciardo present that McLaren The team principal went under the needle during the United States Grand Prix weekend and got a tattoo to commemorate the team’s 2-1 win in Monza earlier this year.
It took the F1 world by surprise, seemed to come out of the blue, but it turned out to be the fulfillment of a challenge it had been given long before.
As part of the Industry Leaders’ Challenge, launched by the Grand Prix Trust charity, Wolff challenged Brown to do something he was afraid of, and needles fell into that category.
“Sometimes you have to face your biggest fears, which is what I’ve done,” Brown said, according to Motorsport.com.
“It actually came about through the Grand Prix Trust with Sky, where a team principal is nominated every year to do something that scares them.
“Toto nominated me last year, and needles scare me enough. When I was trying to think through what would be kind of funny and real and really terrifying, I got the idea of getting a tattoo.
“Then obviously, since Daniel is a fan of tattoos himself and he recently won, I thought, maybe we can get the two of them together and come visit him and hold my hand!”

The Grand Prix Trust’s challenge doesn’t end there, as Brown now has to nominate another member of the F1 paddock to do something for the next year or something.
He’s always decided who to challenge, but he’s not giving anything away yet.
“I know who it is, I did it,” he said.
“It’s about nominating someone of importance, a personality in sport. It’s been three team bosses in a row so far, but it’s not limited to that. It could be engineers, it could be drivers, it could be other people with great personalities, if you like within the sport.
“It is up to each individual to come up with their own plan and I think it will be rolled out shortly who I nominated. I’m not allowed to say that. It’s an embargo. “
Whether Brown and Co will celebrate at the end of the season remains to be seen, as the British team is only three and a half points ahead of Ferrari in the battle for P3 in the constructors’ championship.
