"This year's calendar won't always be so forgiving" - Sebastian Vettel

After a three week break formula 1 turns back this weekend with its first European stop Imolafor the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. Aston Martin is hoping for an all round better weekend as the long wheelbase and low rake design are challenging for both the engineers and the drivers. The car has lost a lot of downforce since last year. The team is expected to make improvements to its chassis and aerodynamics to adapt to the high downforce circuit at Imola.

Sebastian Vettel I cannot be blamed for enjoying the little time he has at home with his family during this year’s twenty-three long race Formula 1 world championship. Especially after a tricky debut for the German, he cannot be blamed for it. After a 10-place penalty and a 10-second time penalty after clashing with, he finished in 15th place. alpine‘s Esteban Oconand then earning five penalty points on his Super license. Despite this poor performance Vettel looking forward to the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna at the Imola.

“I’m looking forward to getting started this weekend. It was good to have a little gap between those first two races – this year’s calendar won’t always be so forgiving. “

Vettel recognized that leisure has allowed Aston Martin to go back to their factory and look at their racing data in detail to see what areas they need to improve AMR21 most. The seasoned driver also spoke about the huge differences between the locations for the first two races and the different challenges they pose to the drivers.

“As a track, Imola is a very different challenge than Bahrain: It’s a track that you can really attack, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Possibly he had a very undesirable debut weekend for Aston Martinbut this is not the time to bet quadruple Formula 1 world champion Since down on a racetrack like Imola his years of experience will certainly come into play.

Aston Martin 22-year-old driver Lance Stroll said he really enjoyed the track last year and is looking forward to the challenge the track brings this year.

“It’s an incredibly fast stretch with so little runoff – the balance between risk and reward is immense, so it’s incredibly satisfying when done right.”

Aston Martin didn’t have the biggest race at the Bahrain International Circuit compared to the results they had as Racing Point last year. Stroll finished seventh at one point but lost late to finish tenth. With that, Aston Martin scored its first design engineer point in the process, but the newcomers still found it a disappointing result.

“As a team we all wanted more last time in Bahrain, so we treat Imola as a new opportunity.”

The Canadian seemed delighted with how well the field seemed to fit together this season and looked forward to the challenge. After some serious reliability issues with pre-season testing, Stroll stressed the importance of having a weekend without problems for the team to get a strong result in addition to the 2021 regulations that team boss Otmar Szafnauer believes have hit Aston Martin the hardest .

“We saw that there are a number of teams that all fit together very closely, so it is important to get out of the blocks cleanly in every session and run smoothly if we are to make a difference.”
