Bobby Fong and Petersen hold fourth and fifth places with 25 and 23 points respectively, while Paasch is sixth with 17 points, according to the official standings released after the race.

The 22-year-old Florida native has been competing in the MotoAmerica Superbike class since 2024. Kelly previously won the 2021 MotoAmerica Supersport Championship, securing 12 wins and 17 podiums in 18 races, sources confirmed. After that title, he spent two seasons competing in the FIM Moto2 World Championship with the American Racing Team before returning to the U.S. in 2024. In his rookie Superbike season that year, Kelly finished fourth overall with seven podium finishes, including his first Superbike victory at Circuit of The Americas on the BMW M 1000 RR, officials said.

Kelly currently rides for OrangeCat Racing, a Chicago-based team that fields BMW M 1000 RR machines as part of the BMW Motorrad Motorsport Official Race Team in the 2026 MotoAmerica Superbike season. The team, led by Kevin Philips, stepped up to the Superbike class after winning the 2025 MotoAmerica Stock 1000 Championship, records indicate. Kelly’s teammate, Jayson Uribe, also competes on a BMW M 1000 RR, carrying the number 36 alongside Kelly’s number 40.

The OrangeCat BMW M 1000 RR is the machine Kelly used to secure his podium finish at Road Atlanta, a track that has hosted multiple MotoAmerica events including Supersport races in previous years. The bike is noted for its official BMW Motorrad Motorsport specifications, which the team utilizes in competition, according to technical details provided by OrangeCat Racing.

Sunday’s Superbike Race 2 was part of the MotoAmerica series’ ongoing 2026 season schedule at Road Atlanta. The race results directly impacted the championship standings, with Scholtz’s win solidifying his lead and Kelly’s third-place finish moving him into second overall. Beaubier’s runner-up position kept him in contention as well, maintaining a close points gap among the top riders.

Kelly’s progression in the Superbike class reflects his continued development since his Supersport championship and Moto2 experience. His performance at Road Atlanta adds to his points tally early in the 2026 season, as he aims to build on his rookie achievements and contend for the MotoAmerica Superbike title. The series will continue with upcoming rounds where riders will seek to improve their standings in the tightly contested championship.
