Carlos Sainz is only 4 points away from being the most points F1 driver without winning a race.
Carlos Sainz has raced for four different teams in his F1 career since making his Toro Rosso debut in 2015. After joining the Red Bull Junior Team, he switched to racing for Renault, McLaren, and now he provides his services for Ferrari.
The 27-year-old is in his debut season with the Italian team and has surprised the world of F1. Carlos’ ability to perform well in an F1 car has often gone under the radar.
However, it has proven impossible to ignore his 2021 season at Ferrari. The Spaniard took three podiums and scored 145.5 points so far, his best season in the sport to date.
That Carlos Sainz man, I sympathize with him. One of the most overlooked drivers. So much so that he got it off the podium for 2 of his 5 podium places ![]()

A lot of people expected Sainz to fight because Ferrari is such a big name in F1. Nevertheless, he has adapted perfectly to the Maranello-based team and, together with his teammate Charles Leclerc, is well on the way to leading the team to a P3 place in the constructors’ championship.
However, Sainz is about to rewrite the history books by breaking a record we don’t know for sure if he wants to.

Carlos Sainz will replace Niko Hülkenberg as the most decorated F1 driver without a race win
The Madrid-born driver has made a total of 5 podiums in his F1 career. But he still has to win a race.
Nico Hülkenberg is currently the driver with the most points without a race win. The German driver has a total of 521 points. Interestingly enough, Hulkenberg never stood on a podium in his long F1 career either.
His record will soon be broken, because Carlos Sainz is 517.5 points. If the Ferrari driver lands above 8th in Saudi Arabia next week, he will take the record away from Aston Martin reserve drivers in Jeddah himself.
Ferrari is keeping its expectations in check, but Scuderia now looks like it has a boot on the constructors’ podium thanks to Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc’s Colon placement at Losail. https://t.co/d7yqJSm4kB pic.twitter.com/Nhb1iscqa8

Sainz still has a long way to go in his Formula 1 career. This year the Spaniard has shown everyone that he can achieve results and even podium places with a competitive car.
Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto expects his team to be even better on the track next year. This is good news for Sainz, who is aiming for his first F1 win and wants to return the record to Hulkenberg.
