The biggest discussion point of the F1 season 2021 revolved around the two title contenders Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. In recent months, however, their respective bosses Toto Wolff and Christian Horner have drawn a lot of negative light in the endless battle of words.

The focus seems to have shifted slightly from the on-track battle to the off-track battle, in which Horner and Wolff recently joked each other about who would be better suited to the role of a mime villain. Of course, there are also Horner’s remarks that he didn’t have to kiss Wolff’s ass, and the recent allegation from the “rogue” marshal.
In the midst of an insanely hot rivalry between the duo, McLaren’s team boss Andreas Seidl decided to present his view of the ongoing war.

While he believed such rivalries made the sport more fun for fans, he made it clear that there was no way McLaren would put himself in such a disrespectful position.
What did the McLaren F1 boss say?
As Motorsport reports, Seidl spoke about the positive aspects of the feud between Horner and Wolff, which has increased dramatically since Silverstone.

“When you look at everything that’s going on right now, it’s clear that there is of course a lot at stake,” he said. “This is different from the battles we find ourselves in further back, and of course, to a certain extent, it’s great for the fans and for the show because it’s supposed to be entertainment in the end.”
The rivalry started well with Horner and Wolff respecting each other on and off the track, given the noticeably frequent handshakes and recognition. Over the course of the season, however, respect has visibly fallen sharply.

“I definitely think some of the comments we’ve seen over the past few weeks are definitely not something I could imagine in a situation like this,” he said. “I think it’s very important, and it doesn’t matter whether you’re fighting for wins or finishing last, that you always have respect for the competition, the FIA, the F1.
“We do this together, and it is important that there is respect for the volunteers who ultimately help us run these race weekends,” concluded Seidl.
