The Belgian GP didn’t bring us a race, but it delivered it with the memes. Up close and personal with the crew, the lazy and bored drivers, F1 Twitter had fun.

Twitter administrators of the teams with the jokes

In what felt like an eternity, the team’s admins spent their time on Twitter. It was what really got the memes flowing; Especially after Pierre Gasly asked for some sausages on the track, the Alpha Tauri Barbeque really got the party going. For the fans at home in particular, it was an entertaining sideline instead of looking at the gray spa racetrack.

Over time, drivers looked for ways to chat. This was a slow progression from boredom to restlessness, all perfect for some fun pics on Twitter.

While Tsunoda was eating a lot, other drivers were scrolling through Twitter or, in Lando’s case, taking a quick nap. In stark contrast to his teammate, Daniel Ricciardo was about inspiring fans and entertaining the McLaren team.

Are you okay, Daniel?

The other teams exposed their drivers as real-life memes. While the cameras were on the garages, the funny faces rolled on.

Later on, Carlos Sainz got bored and let go of his account, sharing some very relatable pictures of him and Leclerc.

F1 fans take over the Belgian GP

While the teams were having fun, the F1 fans dominated the Belgian GP hashtag. The best result of the event was Twitter’s decision on the driver of the day. Bernd Maylander won the prestigious title and was celebrated as the winner of the Belgian GP. The safety car really did more laps on the track than the F1 cars; a situation that Twitter found funny.

Due to the German’s incredible performance on the track, the designer’s board has been massively updated. Mercedes took an amazing lead among the constructors with an F1 first from a 1-2-3 finish. Twitter shared what it thought was the ideal representation of the podium at Spa.
