“I don’t really know yet. But yeah, I just want to try and learn as much as I can, get some good results, so that would be a bonus. But yeah, I’m just going to enjoy it, enjoy my first race for over a year, have fun and get into it.” [Translated using Google]

“Results aside, as long as I follow everything as well as I can, learn as much as I can and do everything the right way, I think results will come naturally. So I have to do everything from the right way, start off on the right foot, and make sure I’m having fun too.”

Impressed by his junior performances, McLaren announced Oscar Piastri as the Honey Badger’s successor. After the monumental tug-of-war with Alpine, McLaren finally managed to land Piastri in 2022 and are getting ready to have him spearhead the attack alongside Lando Norris in 2023. As for Piastri, he just needs to be cautious of being another Daniel Ricciardo for the Orange team.

Oscar Piastri looks forward to working with Lando Norris

McLaren will start the upcoming season with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri as their two lead drivers. After parting ways with Ricciardo at the end of 2022, McLaren believes the duo can turn the table at the Woking-based team. As for Piastri, he’s excited to work with his teammate Norris.

However, Piastri admitted that he is yet to get very comfortable with his new partner as he didn’t have enough time to build a bond. Piastri talked about this when he was invited to In The Fast Lane podcast.

The Australian said, “I don’t know Lando that well. I’ve spoken to him a couple of times very briefly and we’ve got a few mutual friends in common. But yes, I’m looking forward to getting to know him, both personally and professionally.”

The new F1 inductees further shared, “We’re both quite similar in age, we’ve got a few friends in common, like I said, so I’m confident that we’ll be able to work well together and hopefully bring the whole team more towards the front of the grid – that’s the aim.”
