
It is often believed that New Years Day brings new promises and thrills to the whole world. And that also applies to the premier class of motorsport, Formula 1, thanks to the upcoming massive regulatory campaign. Therefore, Mercedes started the year 2022 with a foretaste of the bodywork of their soon-to-be-revealed F1 challenger.

On the first day of 2022, Mercedes revealed a picture of the W13 on social media (Instagram and Twitter). The picture showed the front view of the W13 in dim lighting and a very dark background, and the caption read “New Years, New Mercedes”.

Fans could not get a close look at the car as Mercedes was careful not to reveal too much about it and to keep the secret for the official car launch planned for February. Barely a day later, more pictures of the car that appeared in Mercedes’ sneak peek appeared on Twitter.
Only this time the snapshots were taken in much brighter light.

Mercedes F1 images reportedly leaked on social media
When Mercedes unveiled the image, it almost looked like the image with the grand unveiling ahead of the 2021 British Grand Prix was computerized. But it turns out to be actually a snapshot of a real-life F1 car from 2022.
British motorsport racer Bradley Philpot revealed the pictures on Twitter and credited one of the Twitter users. He wrote, “So it wasn’t just a rendering based on the F1 model! It exists in real life! “

It is very obvious that this is not the actual design of W13, but rather a show model for the ‘New Years Mail’. But here is something interesting; Mercedes is not alone in this as most of the teams on the grid are likely to own such a car so they could often tease the fans to keep them busy.

Overall, before the official unveiling of the paintwork, you can look forward to more such darkly shaded pictures of the teams. So will the design of the actual F1 car look pretty similar to the “mock-up” car that Mercedes teased a day ago?
