Presented by Mecum Auctions – Just as the McLaren F1 road car redefined top performance in the 1990s, the P1 on offer here set new standards in 2014 as it was boldly described in corporate literature as “the most exciting, powerful, technologically advanced and dynamic supersport” Car ever made. “This is a clearer statement than ever from an automobile manufacturer since Errett Lobban Cord introduced the Duesenberg Model J, but the 2014 P1, offered here without reservation from the Marshall Goldman Collection, more than lives up to that promise.
The P1 consists of an intricately woven one-piece MonoCage made of carbon fiber and consists of a bundle of interconnected systems that follow modern Formula 1 practice. Its aerodynamics generate the highest downforce of all production cars of its time and complement it with the RaceActive chassis control for modulating the independent wishbone suspension and an adjustable rear wing in order to maintain a dynamic balance under all conditions. Its hybrid DOHC 3.8L V-8 with two turbochargers develops 727 hp, with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor in the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission producing 177 hp for a total of 903 hp and more than 700 lb-ft of torque. At the other end of the range are silicon carbide coated disc brakes made of carbon-ceramic class F1, which can stop the P1 from 120 MPH in just 380 feet.
Chassis # 325 of 375 P1 produced, this 2014 McLaren P1 received full treatment from McLaren Special Operations who handcrafted its bespoke interior and exterior panels. The Brodger Fire Brown paint specially developed by MSO is contrasted by the silk-matt body made of carbon fiber and the orange accents on the brake calipers, the rear wing struts and the “P1” rear shield. The same satin finish can be seen on the mirror arms and lightweight aluminum wheels. The theme repeats itself inside with Highland Hare Brown leather and Alcantara upholstery on the dashboard, steering wheel and touring seats, contrasted by orange stitching and orange satin-finished dials. This exquisitely tailored McLaren hypercar comes complete with a battery charger, car cover, books, original paint and leather samples, P1 book and service records.
This McLaren P1 will be auctioned off by Mecum Auctions during the Indy 2021 event from May 14-22.
