McLaren unveiled its new motorhome, known as the Team Hub, at the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.
The team says the redesigned, streamlined, and improved facility will reduce emissions from running on the race weekend
The structure in which the team’s employees are housed on race weekends has replaced the previous Brand Center, which was introduced in 2007.
The huge Brand Center, which was used for the European rounds of the World Cup, required 18 trucks to move it between the venues. The new ‘Team Hub’ only uses eight, which the team says has cut its carbon footprint by about half.
In contrast to the Brand Center, which was located in the British McLaren Technology Center between races, the new Team Hub will be operated from a base on mainland Europe. This will further reduce the number of kilometers traveled and reduce the number of trips across the English Channel made difficult by Britain’s exit from the European Union.
To reduce waste, McLaren reused and recycled much of the previous Brand Center to create its Team Hub. Much of the previous structure and materials have been retained.
The team not only reduces CO2 emissions, but also assumes that operating their new motorhome will be more cost-effective.
