Immersive Labs announced a multi-year partnership with McLaren Racing as the official partner to support cyber workforce optimization for the McLaren F1 team. The deal calls for the team to use the Immersive Labs platform and wear branding on both cars from the 2022 season.
With valuable intellectual property and data to protect, the McLaren F1 team will leverage Immersive Labs to run a continuous cycle of human cyber skill development that keeps pace with the threat landscape.
The platform will provide real-time data on knowledge, skills and judgment of the entire workforce by guiding technical and non-technical teams through cyber crisis drills and laboratories. These insights will enable McLaren to understand where all the skills from executives to cybersecurity teams lie and optimize them as risk increases.
Working in a sport that is driven by the constant improvement of human performance to achieve small but crucial advantages, McLaren is constantly trying to improve the team’s skills – from refining their pit stop strategy to helping them make decisions the driver with real-time data. As an official partner to support cyber workforce optimization, Immersive Labs extends this capability to cybersecurity and gives the entire workforce a decisive advantage against potential attackers.
Zak Brown, McLaren Racing CEO, said, “People and technology are critical to our team and we are excited to partner with Immersive Labs to help develop the cyber human skills that enable us to better take risk to control. We’re racing at race pace both on and off the track and look forward to this partnership accelerating the human component of our cybersecurity. “
As part of the partnership, the front wishbones of McLaren MCL35M vehicles will bear the Immersive Labs branding from the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Both teams will also work together on shared experiences during this period to demonstrate to senior executives the benefits of optimizing the workforce’s cyber skills. The first of these is an event for CISOs at the final race of the F1 season in Abu Dhabi this coming weekend.
James Hadley, CEO of Immersive Labs, said, “As the impact of cyber risk spreads across the enterprise, it is no longer reserved for the geeks in the basement. Organizations need to respond as a whole, which means that cyber knowledge, skills, and judgment of everyone, from executives to technical teams, are continuously optimized.
“Competition in Formula 1 is no different and requires technology and people to work together to stay ahead. For this reason, the partnership with McLaren Racing is an excellent fit. ”
