Although fans will remember the 2021 F1 season for the epic title fight between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, Carlos Sainz’s performance was certainly a head turner. The Spaniard had a dream 2021 F1 season with the Ferrari team. Sainz has had a number of impressive performances with Mclaren in 2019 and 2020. When Sebastian Vettel parted ways with Ferrari, Sainz was offered his place and made the most of the opportunity.

Despite not being at the top, the Spaniard has finished on the podium four times in 2021. The F1 community praised him for his persistence during a tense season. He finished 20 of the 22 races in points with no DNFs.
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko brought Carlos Sainz to Toro Rosso in 2015. Sainz stayed with the team until 2017 and then moved to Renault and later McLaren before finally joining Ferrari. With new regulations for the 2022 season, many expect Ferrari to regularly battle for races and podiums.

Sainz can fight for the title alongside Max Verstappen in 2022
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has followed Sainz’s career curve closely. The Spaniard was part of the Red Bull youth program that Marko led. In a recent interview reported by SoyMotor, Marko was all praise for the Spaniard. However, the Red Bull advisor was a little harsh on his teammate Leclerc.
“Carlos is a very good racing driver, it wasn’t because of his performance that he left Red Bull. In any case, it showed that Leclerc is probably not the child prodigy that many thought he was,” said the Austrian.

He also believes Sainz is well suited to be a championship contender if Ferrari can provide him with the right car. “Due to the rule change, it is difficult to make predictions for this season. But if Ferrari causes a stir with the new car, Carlos can certainly fight for the title,” added Marko.
