Lando Norris: “It was difficult with the traffic and difficult to do laps with the red flags”

Lando Norris: "It was difficult with the traffic and difficult to do laps with the red flags"

Lando Norris found it a difficult day for him and him McLaren F1 team on Friday in Zandvoort race track due to the red flag breaks in both sessions, but he thinks the team is in good shape for the rest of the weekend.

Sebastian Vettel has stopped on the track during the morning session and caused a longer interruption, while more red flags were seen first in the afternoon Lewis Hamilton collapsed and then Nikita Mazepin thrown into the gravel bed.

Norris finished eleventh in the morning and eighth in the afternoon and he knows that he has to push hard and set the lap times when it comes down to it in qualifying on Saturday afternoon in the traffic that is likely to plague the sessions.

“A tough first day,” said Norris. “The traffic was difficult and it was difficult to do laps with the red flags and breaks.

“It started with a good feeling with the car, and we weren’t that bad, but we still have a lot to do in order to be able to drive consistently good laps in qualifying, which we will definitely do. A decent day, but overnight work. “

“I felt relatively comfortable this morning, not this afternoon” – Daniel Ricciardo

Teammate Daniel Ricciardo The Australian was convinced that this weekend he will have a strong weekend in the sand dunes of Zandvoort.

Ricciardo finished fourteenth in the morning but only fifteenth in the afternoon, with the car feeling better in the first session before changes made it a tougher afternoon for the popular Australian.

Ahead of the weekend, Ricciardo believes McLaren will be in good shape for the all-important qualifying session on Saturday at a track he thinks is a lot of fun.

“This track is cool, it’s a lot of fun!” Said Ricciardo. “I definitely enjoyed that. I felt relatively comfortable this morning, not this afternoon. We tried a few things on the car that in retrospect, in my opinion, were not the right direction.

“But that’s what free practice is for. That made the FP2 a little tougher, but we’ll go back and learn from it. I think we’ll still be in good shape tomorrow, but today we were just a little off in FP2.

“There are some fast cars out there so we have a lot of work to do, but it’s a fun track and I really enjoy it.”
