Lando Norris suffered a serious crash in Q3 during qualifying for the Belgian Grand Prix. The session was abandoned after the McLaren driver set off in slippery conditions. Norris was the first to catapult himself into the back end of the wall in Eau Rouge and the accident made Sebastian Vettel angry after he had warned of the dangerous asphalt minutes beforehand.

When asked if he was okay after his nasty incident, Norris simply replied ‘yes’ while listening to himself breathlessly before adding, “I’m sorry guys. I let you down, my bad.

Fortunately, to the cheering of the fans in Spa, he got out of the car unharmed, but seemed to be holding his wrist and arm.

Norris was immediately sent to the medical center for an examination to assess possible injuries.

He suffered a major impact with the barriers on the outside of the high-speed Eau Rouge when his McLaren spun and hit the wall.

After oversteering, the 21-year-old lost control of his car and got off the track while trying to correct the direction.

Norris’ fall occurred shortly after Vettel from Aston Martin had asked the race management to notify the session with a red flag on his team radio because of the stagnant water on the entire route.

“You should make red flags, there is too much water,” said the German. He followed up with an emotional message after learning of Norris’ off.

An angry hag responded: “What the hell did I say? What did I say? Red flag. Unnecessary. Is he okay?”
