
Daniel Ricciardo was the winning addition to the McLaren F1 team in 2021. But the Australian rider struggled to keep up with the speed of his teammate Lando Norris in the 2021 season. He struggled to make a full weekend and fell behind his young teammate.

But McLaren team principal Andreas Seidl believes Ricciardo is working hard to understand the car better and there is still no reason to replace it.

We have a long-term relationship with Daniel: Andreas Seidl
As reported by Ampnine.com, Seidl is certain that the team will not replace the Australian this season despite his difficulties. He also said the team looks forward to continuing with Daniel next season.
“No not at all. First and foremost, we have a long-term commitment with Daniel,” Seidl said of reports of McLaren’s dismissal of the Aussie.

“The speed Daniel has and the experience here with us, we are working hard to, shall we say, take the next steps in his integration process.
“We look forward to seeing these next steps together and then going into the next year,” said the McLaren team boss.

First, nice to be out there again: Daniel Ricciardo
Daniel Ricciardo returned to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit after the summer break. He ended the FP1 AND FP2 session on P12 and P15, respectively. The McLaren driver gave an assessment of his performance in the training sessions.
“We did a few tests today and I think we’ll try to find out which direction there tonight. As you say, sometimes there is a split here. You want downforce for the middle sector, but you tend to lose on the straights. “

“So it’s just what you are kind of happier with and find that compromise and balance. So time will tell what we are aiming for in the end and then the tires will, I think Mercedes could do a little better in the media, ”concluded Ricciardo.

Ricciardo needs a good performance this weekend to close the gap to his team-mate. He also needs help from McLaren in the constructors’ battle with Ferrari for P3.
