Before we get into the article, it is important that we distinguish a coupe from other car segments. By definition, a coupe is a two-door model with a fixed roof and a sloping roofline. The latter is the coupe’s most distinctive feature as some car companies have started using the term to describe their sporty sedans with a sloping roofline. That’s okay, because the term was developed long before supercars or sports sedans existed. Now for the juicy piece.
For years there has been a dispute about which nation makes the best coupé Sports car. Fans fight to the death to defend their favorites. The supporters of the German car manufacturers are among the toughest fanboys alive; Bimmer boys who enjoy being a little too cocky, luxury-obsessed Mercedes-Benz fans, Audi drivers who can’t stop talking about their Quattro AWD system, or Porsche purists with a preference for launch control . And considering how much some people think of their German luxury coupes, this article may piss them off a little.
Sure, Germany is known for producing powerful, handsome, and fun coupes, but there will forever be a British icon that dwarfs everyone.

BMW M2 CS
Via motor1.com
A driver-oriented version of a driver-oriented version of a driver-oriented BMW sports car. The BMW 2 Series has come a long way from where the first 2 Series were born. As a limited edition model, however, the CS stands out from the others.

Whether it’s the gold wheels or just 3 color options that grab your attention, the turbo-charged Inline-6 with 444 hp makes a hell of a difference between the so-called “tame” M2 Comp and the M2 CS.

Apollo IE
Via: Universal Pictures
The IE uses a symbiotic design, 3-D printed triple narrow star-shaped exhaust trims and a 6.3 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine. A literal racing car that can be driven on public roads.

Sporty extravagant color schemes and a gorgeous orchestric exhaust sound (well, it’s $ 70,000, after all). IE stands for Intenza Emozione and is Italian for “Intense Emotion”. The 800-horsepower villain car has a hefty price tag of just under $ 3 million.

Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM
favcars.com
In 2002, Mercedes shocked the automotive industry’s performance GT niche with the CLK. But we didn’t know it was just a teenager. After puberty, the CLK DTM came into being. It was lower, wider, more puffy, and angrier than before, and it grew into a huge rear wing.
via youtube
With a supercharged 5.5-liter V8 with almost 600 hp, the DTM is a very dangerous but wonderful car that was built on the occasion of winning the racing version of the CLK in the German Touring Car Championship (called DTM).

Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren
mecum.com
The strange thing is, some might call the SLR. With a monstrous 5.4-liter supercharged V8 developing 617 horsepower but weighing almost 1.8 tons, the SLR is fast, with a top speed of over 300 mph and a 0-60 time of 3.3 Seconds, but still doesn’t feel fast.
via YouTube
The luxurious equipment makes the sportiness of the car deafening and vice versa. That means that the collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren produced an unidentifiable car. It’s comfortable but not luxurious enough to be a true grand tourer and fast but not responsive enough to be a hypercar.

Gumpert Apollo
Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Yes, it looks like an orange that came out of space and has almost completed its transformation into an obese Dorito … but it’s fast, really fast.
Via drivemag.com
The Gumpert was once the record holder on the Top Gear test track and had a Nürburgring lap time of 7: 11.57 (that’s faster than a Porsche 918 Spyder) and was really designed for speed. The nearly 700 horsepower cannot make up for the lack of interior space, basic safety equipment and the most difficult drive mechanisms ever in a street-legal car.

2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S.
via Top Gear
The 911 has always been Porsche’s all-rounder. The legendary 911 has a new successor. There’s a 3.7 liter twin turbo boxer 6 engine behind the driver’s seat, and what an amazing job it does. 0-60 in below average 3 seconds, the Porsche is fast, that’s scary.

The only thing that can be criticized is the soft limiter. This means that when the vehicle is stationary, its engine cannot turn beyond a certain speed range, which is usually 3,000 rpm. Unfortunately, this is due to new rules and regulations regarding CO2 emissions. Other than that, it excels in all aspects that one would expect of it.

BMW M8 competition
caradvice.com.au
A real German monster, the second most powerful vehicle from BMW to date. With a massive 4.4-liter V8 with twin turbocharging and 617 hp, similar to the previous Monster built in Germany, it has more than enough power and brings you to the ground with a light step on the accelerator.
Motor1
The incredible xDrive system from BMW makes both AWD starts and RWD drifts possible. The only reason this Bimmer didn’t get a higher rating is because of its much-needed nourishment (curb weight of 4,560 lbs) and its basic interior that looks almost identical to cheaper BMWs.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series
About Top Gear
As if the regular SLS wasn’t crazy enough already, Mercedes decided to give it a hell of a party. In 2013 they increased the stake. They took a normal SLS, gave it sporty accessories like canards, a rear wing and carbon fiber manifolds everywhere.
All of this resulted in a weight reduction of 80 kg. The handcrafted, oversized 6.2-liter V8 sent the demonic Black Series to 60 in 3.5 seconds.

Audi R8 V10 performance
pinterest.com
The R8 V10 Performance is the most powerful super sports car from Audi to date. With a 611 hp Lamborghini 5.2-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine and a Quattro AWD system, the German exotic can reach 60 mph in no more than 2.9 seconds.
Via: Sestmedia, Wikimedia Commons – https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0
In a straight line, the R8 could be amazing, and if we had to be picky, the R8 does a little worse around the corners because it lacks a bit of personality and feels disconnected. Definitely a supercar that you can drive on a daily basis, but there is something much bigger.

Porsche Carrera GT
via supercars.net
Considered one of the best sounding cars in the world, the Carrera GT will forever remain an immortal legend. The true exotic exhaust sound can all be traced back to the sound of the Porsche’s 5.7-liter V10 naturally aspirated engine. All 605 hp shoot the 1.4 ton German mid-engine in 3.5 seconds to 100 km / h.
about me
Not only is it quick, but it’s dangerous too. A lack of stability control, an unforgiving RWD system, a manual transmission, and unhealthy performance can lead to the best or last ride of your life in the blink of an eye. Unfortunately, the Carrera GT was involved in Paul Walker’s fatal accident.

The Brit who beats them all: McLaren F1
Quintessence, the word that perfectly describes the McLaren F1. Back in the 1990s, McLaren’s Gordon Murray gave birth to the best car the world has ever seen. In a gigantic 6.1 liter naturally aspirated V12 engine developing 618 horsepower, the F1 reached an incredible 60 mph in just 3 seconds while being controlled by a manual transmission.
via YouTube
A giant like the F1 has been extremely redesigned. To name just a few notable wonders: As the first car with a carbon fiber chassis, the F1 had a curb weight of just over 1.1 tons, a gold engine compartment panel, 3 seats and a world-shattering top speed of 240.1 miles per hour. To date, the McLaren F1 is the fastest naturally aspirated engine, despite being almost 30 years old.
