Daniel Ricciardo left Red Bull at the end of the 2018 season and switched to Renault. His move was the result of a search for a friendlier environment away from the “hard love” of Dr. Helmut Marko in the Austrian team. After two seasons with Renault (now Alpine), the Australian switched to McLaren. Ricciardo now claims that the environment and relationships within the team have been exactly what he has followed since moving from Red Bull.
Ricciardo could have taken a lot of time in his first year at McLaren to gain a foothold in his new team, especially with his difficulties in the first half of the season. However, the team was always there to support him.
As reported by GPFans, Ricciardo described his experience with McLaren and said:
“I’m not saying that I want to be pampered all the time, but I think the way you deal with and approach it and not overwhelm me was really nice and I feel it. I can feel that with the team. There is a lot of family support. “
The 32-year-old admitted his disappointing first half of the season, claiming the team had provided immense support. He said:
“Especially here, in the first half of the season, there was a lot of support and they didn’t try to strike me down or knock me down when I was already on the ground, they tried to pull me up.”
Daniel Ricciardo took his maiden win for McLaren at the Italian Grand Prix. He thanked the team on team radio for turning their backs on them – a reflection of the British team’s surroundings.

Daniel Ricciardo began his F1 career at Red Bull and achieved seven glorious race victories with the team. Towards the end of his time with the Austrian team, however, friction with teammate Max Verstappen and the entire team culture forced him to change teams.
Thanks @redbullracing for the past 5 years. Lots of great moments that I will never forget and for which I will be forever grateful. Much left of 2018 to create more memories and finish strong.
