Hence, former McLaren mechanic Marc Priestley believes Lewis has a record in mind as he prepares to battle Red Bull’s Max Verstappen for the 2021 championship.

Lewis Hamilton sets his own title record in Formula 1

On an F1 live podcast quoted by the Express, Priestley said, “It always looks more like” [the world title] goes to Max Verstappen. So will Lewis be satisfied with seven titles or will he eighth? I think he wants that record.

“Lewis can say he doesn’t care about records, but I’ve worked with him and I know he doesn’t. Those records are in his head and I think he wants these, ”he concluded.

Can Lewis regain the lead in the title race?

The Knight has only won three races so far this season, while arch-rival Verstappen has won five of them. As a result, Hamilton lost the lead in the drivers’ championship to Dutchman and is currently second.

Verstappen has 182 points under his belt, while Hamilton only has 150; the 32-point gap that currently exists between the two is something Hamilton hopes to bridge. While Verstappen hopes to expand his lead and win his first Formula 1 title.

The upcoming race is the British Grand Prix at the home race of Silverstone-Hamilton; he hopes to deliver for Mercedes by taking a win in front of a home crowd to bridge the gap to the Red Bull prodigy.
