It was a largely disappointing start to Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo’s McLaren stint. The results were worthless to write home about and the Australian was usurped by his younger teammate Lando Norris. If anything, Ricciardo could have doubts about himself and whether the move from Renault (now Alpine) to McLaren was the right decision.
In the first five races of the season Ricciardo prevailed only once against Norris, with the youngster having already achieved two podium places this year. Getting hit by someone doesn’t do anyone a favor. But for Ricciardo, the pill he has to swallow is bitter and big.
However, we have to wonder if Ricciardo still has a chance to prove to McLaren that he was the right driver for 2021? And can he still defeat Norris?
