“Daniel Ricciardo’s integration process is history” – McLaren F1 Team Principal Andreas Seidl convinced Ricciardo at the Austrian Grand Prix

Daniel Ricciardo had a painful start to his career at McLaren as he lacked performance compared to teammate Landi Norris while also losing to Ferrari by P3 ahead of France.

The Australian F1 driver now had a stunning performance on the Paul Ricard circuit with his P6 result, just behind his teammate, giving him an 18 point lead McLaren. In view of this result, McLaren boss Andreas Seidl sees the integration phase of Ricciardo over.

“In any case, it was a good weekend for the team, a good weekend for Daniel Ricciardo To be back in Q3 and to have this strong drive in the afternoon shows that our joint approach as a team is paying off, ”said Seidl.

“I’m just looking forward to going to Austria now, the same route twice in a row and a more normal racetrack again and I am confident that this integration process will be history.”

He suggested the French GP to Seidl as a turning point and replied: “It’s just a continuation of the journey he’s making with us.

“As we said at the beginning of the weekend, we could already see in the race in Baku that he had made a good step, then unfortunately he fell in qualifying.”

Daniel Ricciardo and Mclaren hDesire for more security in Austria

The double headed ball in Austria is a crucial race for McLaren to consolidate its position in the championship this year, while Ferrari suffered a setback due to a gap last Sunday in France.

Last year McLaren achieved a brilliant result at Spielberg when he secured his first career podium with P3, giving the Woking-based team a solid start to 2020.

It remains to be seen if McLaren could repeat the same feat after almost a year.
