The bet was that if Ricciardo got a podium, Cyril would get a tattoo. And as fate would have it, Daniel achieved a podium finish in Germany last season. Abiteboul hasn’t got his tattoo yet, however, but Ricciardo hopes it will be done before it becomes “old news”.

Daniel finished third at the Eifel Grand Prix last season and has thus kept his part of the deal. The F1 community still wants Cyril to get a tattoo, however, and Ricciardo has revealed he’s had talks with the former Renault boss.
As quoted by Motorsport.com, “I’ve had an overwhelming number of emails, WhatsApp messages and all that, so I saw an email from him.”

“There was the topic of tattoos, so I’m still very optimistic that we can do it before the end of the year. Otherwise, of course, it will drag on and become old news, so I am determined to make it a reality, ”explained Ricciardo.

Another bet the Australian won
When Ricciardo joined McLaren this season, he made a bet with his new boss, Zak Brown. It was said that if Daniel got a podium he would drive his idol, Dale Earnhardt’s car. While Brown would have to attend Ricciardo’s “Shoey” party.
As fate would have it, Daniel won the Italian Grand Prix in Monza earlier this season. Zak kept his word and joined Ricciardo’s cheers on the podium. The McLaren boss has yet to give Ricciardo the keys to the cult car.
