When asked about the F2 driver, Ricciardo said, “I’m very happy that the Oscars are doing so well.” Ricciardo was impressed by Piastri’s phenomenal racing. “Oscar was there this year; and really good Racecraft too, seems to have the whole package at the moment. ”Hopefully we’ll see another Australian flag on an F1 chassis soon.
Daniel Ricciardo explains the Australian feeling
Ricciardo also spoke about the feeling of having another driver on the grid, especially when it’s someone to look up to. “I know what it was like for me when Mark Webber was in Formula One. And when I got on the grid and he was still there, I just thought … it was cool. It was a cool feeling and of course proud to represent Australia. “
Ricciardo briefly shared the starting grid with Webber, who retired in 2013. Now, however, Webber is training Oscar Piastri. After kicking his boots at Red Bull, Ricciardo later shared a shoey with his Australian compatriot.
As great as these drivers are, it takes a certain amount of Australian determination to make it into the big league. The McLaren driver explained: “We don’t leave our beautiful c-country for free. We’re probably pretty stubborn too, so I think once we’re on our way, it’s not hard for anyone to dissuade us. “
