Although the two frontrunners attracted the most attention in 2021, the battle for the “best of the others” was no less exciting. McLaren and Ferrari battled it out for most of 2021, and the red team emerged victorious. Ricciardo is delighted to see two teams with a rich heritage in F1 going head-to-head. But he thinks it would have been better if there had been a fight for the top spot.
In a recent interview, Ricciardo reflected on this epic fight and the future course of this fight. “That it’s Ferrari, from the outside it’s a cool story that these two teams have had a couple of poor years as two of the greatest teams of all time. And now they’re coming back and they’re fighting it. If only it were for P1!” uttered the Aussie star.
“I think that’s really the story that I’m sure a lot of fans want,” he added.
