In 1993 Michael Andretti, son of the 1978 F1 World Champion, Mario, founded Andretti Autosport. Since then, the American outfit has not only entered various forms of motorsport, but has also been successful in many of them.
They won the legendary Indianapolis 500 race six times and the IndyCar series four times. Of those six Indy 500 wins, three were in the past seven years. For the 2022 season, they signed the former Haas F1 driver Romain Grosjean. In addition to American racing experience, Andretti Autosport has also had a Formula E team since 2014.
While the current F1 grid already has an American team in Haas, adding another one could attract more American viewers to the sport. In addition, the team already has F1 fame due to the success of Mario Andretti, which makes it even more exciting for the yellow-colored outfit.
Should Andretti take over the team, they could also eliminate the need for a Ferrari Academy driver for the team. This could ultimately reduce Ferrari’s influence on the team and leave Andretti to work out their strategy.
However, the American team has Honda as a partner in other motor sports. Given that the Japanese team is leaving Formula 1 after 2021, Andretti could find himself in a difficult position in the engines department.

Could Andretti be debuting an American driver in the future?
While there are no American drivers in Formula 2, there are four perspectives in Formula 3. These are Logan Sargent, Kaylen Frederick, Jak Crawford and Juan Manuel Correa. Haas team boss Günther Steiner recently spoke about the possibility of recruiting American talent in the future.

However, this can look a lot harder than it seems due to the super licensing requirements. Should Andretti take over next year, they will have a driver with a victorious pedigree in Valtteri Bottas. And given their success under Michael Andretti, who absolutely wants to get into Formula 1, the American team could find the winning formula in Formula 1.
