The Bahrain International Circuit will act as the curtain on Formula 1 for the third time in history, after earning the honor in 2006 and 2010, and marks a return to familiar territory for the Uralkali Haas F1 team, where two Championship events take place last fall. The Uralkali Haas F1 Team has scored 24 points on the track in Sakhir in its history and took a strong fifth place twice in 2016 and 2018. Schumacher made his Formula 1 test debut with Scuderia Ferrari in Bahrain in 2019 and sealed the Formula 2 championship at the venue in 2020. Mazepin also has experience with the racetrack and was on the Formula 2 podium last November after he made his debut on the racetrack in 2019.
