Steiner is confident that Haas will return to midfield in F1 in 2022 | F1

Haas had its worst season so far in 2020, picking up just three points on the way to ninth place in the constructors’ championship.

With a major change in regulations over the next year, Haas decided not to develop its 2021 car at all.

The American team is on track to finish 10th in the Constructors’ Championship and is unlikely to score in 2021.

In assessing his team’s chances for the next year, Steiner believes the budget cap gives Haas a chance to get back in shape.

“I think the budget cap certainly has a lot to do with it, because if there wasn’t a budget cap, the big teams would have developed this year’s car in parallel, next year,” said Steiner. “I think it’s a combination of the wind tunnel runs, they are limited and the CFD computation time is limited.
